Being in the party scene at Valkyrie Manila for the past several months . I noticed that most of the party people there is into vaping. Including the MC's and the resident DJ's of Valkyrie. So I got curious . thou I used e-cig three years ago when it was first introduced to me by my fellow BPO employees. But the one that I see at the clubs has a new design, they are not the ballpen-type e-cig anymore. It look more complicated and more sophisticated I should say. With my research here's some of the information that I gathered. The Oxford Dictionaries 2014 Word of the Year and has been revealed, and it's a result for vapers! 'Vape' has seen off stiff competition from a number of other common words from the past year (including one of special significance for us as a Scottish company).
The Oxford English dictionary now officially recognises the definition of 'vape' as follows:
Vape (verb)
Inhale and exhale the vapour produced by an electronic cigarette or similar device
"I'd rather people vaped indoors than smoked outside."
Vape (noun)
An electronic cigarette or similar device
"I've been using a vape now for 15 weeks."
According to research carried out by the boffins at Oxford, you are now around 30 times more likely to encounter the word than even two years ago. Nominated words do not have to have come into usage in the past 12 months ('vape' actually was first recorded in 1983, fact fans), but come to prominence during the period. 'Vape' being given the nod, simply further demonstrates the growing popularity and importance of vaping worldwide.
The Word of the Year is chosen after candidates "...are debated and one is eventually chosen that is judged to reflect the ethos, mood, or preoccupations of that particular year and to have lasting potential as a word of cultural significance."

So what's with this Vape that makes it famous among party goers, clubbers and the yuppies of Makati area. For the young professionals that are in the Makati, Ayala area. I know that it is for convenience. Since vapers are not being chased by Makati marshalls unlike those you are smokers. Becaus of the city ordinance that there are selected areas and locations that you can only smoke in Makati. Vapers are exempted to that rule because they don't litter cigarette butts. Amazing !!!!
But for the clubbers that I got the chance to talked with that are also vapers, they said that the coolness and the awesomeness of the cloud-like smoke that is being produced by the vape makes it addicitve to them, you'll just find yourself firing after another fire. Also it tastes good since you have a variety of juice that you can select from. Although, this vice is just so expensive and it really looks complicted to me.
Imagine the hassle of changing the cotton and the coil and then spending huge amount of money for the juice. I'll just stick into smoking cigarette ! (snap! snap!). But if you want to look cool and awesome , yeah! you can start to assemble your vape. Just choose a mod box that you'll surely enjoy holding into but I am telling you they are pretty expensive.This mechanical mods will really cost as if you buy a low end android mobile phone. And your expenses will not stop right there, you have to constantly upgrade your subtank and all because again new models will keep on reaching the market and if you want to be a hard-core vaper then you must keep up with the joneses.
What is VAPING ? Is it SAFE?
Firstly, VAPING is not SMOKING!
Ecigs / Vaping is intended for current adult smokers , that wish to continue enjoying their nicotine habit at a reduced risk.
Vaping utilizes a Propylene Glycol or Vegetable Glycerin based liquid, mixed with small amounts of nicotine and food grade flavoring that then get vaporized in a small battery powered atomizer, Simulating the experience of smoking. The vapor created is inhaled and exhaled much like cigarette smoke hence the term “VAPING” as opposed to “SMOKING”
Vaping is not proven 100% safe. Although there are now more promising studies out there like theClearstream study, and IVAQS. Additionally Dr Farsalinos has dedicated a lot of time and money into studying the effects of e-liquid and vaping on his website ecigarette-research.com . Certainly feel free to do your own homework regarding things like PG / VG and nicotine and decide for yourself if vaping is a road you want to go down. I can categorically say that after 5 years of being tobacco free myself. I have never felt better.
Keep in mind that vaping and electronic cigarettes are not designed to be 100% safe. They are tobacco harm reduction. As I said above, they are designed for adults to continue enjoying nicotine at a reduced harm.
Additionally while not categorized as a carcinogen nicotine (in it’s pure raw form) is still essentially a poison and can increase blood pressure and heart rate in humans. So please be careful and use at your own risk.
