UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2016

The most awaited college sporting event of the year (apart from the UAAP and NCAA finals) is back! Mark your calendars! Show off your school pride! This year’s UAAP Cheer Dance Competition will happen on November 19!

The major forces of UAAP Cheerdance: FEU Cheering Squad, UP Pep Squad, UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, NU Pep Squad. Image grabbed from UAAPCDC

However, organizers are still undecided on the venue so a poll on twitter is still ongoing, click here to participate: twitter.com/UAAP

To add up to your hype, check out this compiled round one halftime performances posted by UAAP on their Facebook page, that are worth rewatching, arranged by last year’s CDC rank.

ADMU.
The evident upgrade in the performance is exciting to see from the Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion. Now led by an experienced coach, the team is prepared to give the contenders a tough competition. Consider the Blue Eagles the dark horse of this year’s CDC. Watch the improved BBB here: ADMU

AdU.
The halftime performance that shows us the other side of the Adamson Pep-squad. Their dance skill is refreshing to the eye. Watch out for the short but sweet pair dancing in the middle of the routine. AdU

DLSU.
We feature the DLSU Animo Squad’s halftime performance where they had to face sideways, the basket, due to the DLSU vs ADMU game’s seating arrangement. While others would be unnerved by this unusual blocking, the Taft squad remained ready and heartened despite the curveball. Watch here: DLSU

UE.
The halftime routine is a showcase of the UE Pep Squad’s huge increase in skill-level. Here we see a nicely done step-out doubles toss, stable tic-ups, all X-doubles landing in cradle, mad tumbling skills, and fast pyramid transitions. The 2015 winning teams better not rest on their laurels at this point. UE’s bomba is ready to explode. Watch here: UE

FEU.
This halftime routine from the FEU Cheering Squad could pass as a Cheerdance Competition routine. It has all the elements needed: dance, tosses, pyramids, lifts, jumps and tumblings. Their powerful cheer rendition to Pentatonix’ “Rather Be” is hard to forget. We bet you’ll want to watch this over and over again. Sit back because “there’s no place you’d rather be.” Watch here: FEU

UP.
What a perfect day to show the UP Pep Squad ‘s eternal cheerdancing expertise. The routine is performed during their game against NU, home of the reigning Cheerdance champions. The 8-time champions from Diliman are sending everyone a convincing message through their sharply executed routine: A resounding readiness to reclaim top plum this year. Watch the routine here: UP

UST.
As a performer, what do you do when the music stops in the middle of your performance? You go on and don’t let that shake you, says the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe who continues on with their impressive number even after experiencing a technical error. Watch here: UST

NU.
Combine NU Pep Squad’s Team Gold and Team Blue in one performance, and you get ONE FANTABULOUS SHOW! This routine has “team to beat” written all over it. Such a feast for Cheerdance fans, this routine is. Watch now: NU
Are you excited to see more halftime performances in round 2? More importantly, who will step up in this year’s UAAP CheerDance Competition? Find out on November 19.
