PH bet Jennifer Hammond gears up for Miss Intercontinental 2016

Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2016 Jennifer Hammond says there is definitely pressure for her to perform at this year's Miss Intercontinental contest in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She has to maintain or surpass the successful streak by former queens Kris Janson, who placed 2nd runner-up in 2014, and Christi Lynn McGarry, who placed 1st runner-up in 2015.

In an interview with Rappler.com she responded :

"Kailangan ko ma-maintain iyon or 'yung progress na iyon. So the only way to progress is to win the title. After first runner-up, we have to win. So doon ako mas pressured," she told reporters during the send-off party for her and fellow beauty queens Kylie Verzosa and Nicole Cordoves last September 28.(I need to maintain that, or that progress. So the only way to progress is to win the title. After first runner-up, we have to win. So that's where I'm more pressured.)

As for her fears about the contest, Jennifer said: "Sa lahat naman ng beauty pageant, there’s politics and I heard from some, off the grapevine, na medyo may politics. So ang fear ko lang is I don’t get the chance to compete with all of them equally and cleanly, parang ganun. Kasi I know naman that alam ko sa sarili ko na I'm prepared, and if I do what I would have to do, I'll do well. "

(In all beauty pageants, there's politics and I heard from some, off the grapevine, that there is a bit of politics. So my fear is I don't get to compete with all of equally, and cleanly, like that. Because I know that I'm prepared, and I do what I would have to, I'll do well.)
But despite these issues, Jennifer is focused on getting the much coveted Miss Intercontinental crown for the country. Before leaving for Sri Lanka, Jennifer went through a lot of training for walking, the question and answer round, and doing her own makeup.

As for representing the Philippines, Jennifer said that she will just be herself when she competes with the other candidates.

"I think I'm an epitome of isang Filipina. Dahil lumaki naman ako dito, at yung mga values natin ay meron ako nun. So I will just show them who I am pero yung polished me. I would treat them with respect and be friendly with them as we are known to be really friendly people," she said in a mixture of English and Filipino.

ALL THE BEST TONIGHT FOR YOUR JENNIFER!!!

DINING IN THE DARK AT IT'S FINEST - " Noche - Dine in the Dark."

Dining in a casual or fancy restaurant has always been an obsession to me. The ambiance of the restaurants makes a great impact on my happiness as a person.

There are restaurants where you can eat with a Wii controller in one hand and a bowl of panna cotta in the other, or paint a watercolor masterpiece while sipping wine, or enjoy your afternoon coffee surrounded by cute animals. The latest experiential dining concept to emerge in Manila is one you can’t miss.

Noche: Dine in the Dark Manila invites guests to experience their dinner in a whole new light: that is to say, in complete darkness.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

The menu items are not revealed prior to the meal and guests go in dark, both literally and figuratively, for the full experience. Cellphones, watches and any other devices that emit light are also not allowed in the pitch-black restaurant.

It may sound like eating in the dark is so easy you can do it with your eyes closed, but if anything, losing your sense of sight can make the experience a real challenge. Although, per the restaurant’s FAQs, “it is very rare to see someone not feeling comfortable with dining in the dark,” they've anticipated all the little adjustments guests will have to make.

Aprons and gloves are provided for those are worried about making a mess on their clothes. There will also be “darkness experts” to assist you and to ensure that everything goes smoothly. The wait staff are all either totally blind or severely visually impaired—the best people to guide you through your dinner in the dark since they are all perfectly used to navigating through their daily tasks without sight. The restaurant is also equipped with infrared cctv cameras for the guests' security.

Noche: Dine in the Dark Manila is located at the A. Venue Suites Hotel Makati and will be open for dinner service at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting October 14, 2016. - See more at: www.dineindarkmanila.com

DRESS TO IMPRESS with "The Filo Dapper"

Yuppies or young men are starting their professional lives without a clue as to how to dress.
Young men are the future leaders of society, and dressing sharp is the first step towards becoming a professional.

Let me be clear. Clothing does not make the man……It does not define who he is , but I know a lot of people will agree to me that "the way you dress shows what manner you have".

The right clothing can give a young man precious seconds to make his case and influence others. A young lawyer, consultant, medical professional, or salesman needs to understand this. That being said – it’s important to note that it is worth paying attention to your clothing as a young man even if you’re working in a field without strict dress codes.

Tradesmen, welders, carpenters, and construction workers must know that our clothing still matters as it introduces us and tells our story before we open our mouth. Crisp, clean, and well fitted clothing – wherever you are at in the world – encourages others to take you more seriously.

We are so lucky that we have The Filo Dapper to guide us in choosing the right clothes to wear and how to mix and match with out compromising being stylish and to look sharp.

The Filo Dapper is also a YouTube content creator on his channel you'll see how he creates story while he showcase his fashion ideas. Here's a video where he shows his fall essentials.

Main-stream fashion trends change too fast to make useful wardrobe staples. Most young men don’t have the budget to buy new pants every month or two — so stay away from pants that are only presentable during an “in” season.

Distressed or bleached jeans are a great example; several different designer labels briefly managed to sell the image on the public, and then the fad changed and left a lot of people with very expensive jeans too beat-up to wear in public.

Stick to classic clothing staples for the core of your wardobe and avoid anything that’s too far out on the cutting edge — even if you see something that makes it look good.

I was so lucky that I had the chance to ask Mr. AJ Dee a.k.a The Filo Dapper on what should young men wear in an upscale club like Valkyrie.

He replied : " Well, I would suggest something dressy. Sharp but still comfortable. A button down shirt matched with a trouser and a loafer, or a pullover and a dark denim with a white luxe sneakers for a more casual yet dapper look".

I am not an expert when it comes to fashion but here's my take on dressing to impress:

TIP #1 - If you’ve never owned really good shoes before, brace yourself and get ready to pay a significant amount of money for well-made, classic footwear.

TIP # 2 - Well cut and classically styled trousers will make you look a little sharper at social occasions than jeans. They’re less common in a young crowd, so you’ll already be standing out, and a good pair of slacks has a drape and crease that looks much crisper than denim.

TIP # 3 - Wearing T-shirts to social events or to work is a no-no.

Thank you Mr. AJ Dee for allowing me to feature you on my simple blog. I know that my fellow finest clubbers learned a lot from your social media accounts. More power to The Filo Dapper.
